Wedding Poses That Always Work (Even If You’re Awkward in Front of the Camera)

Not sure how to pose on your wedding day?

You’re not alone. Most couples tell me they’re either nervous, “awkward,” or have no clue what to do with their hands. But here’s the truth: you don’t need to know how to pose — that’s my job. 💅

After photographing dozens (okay, hundreds) of weddings, I’ve learned that these two types of poses never fail — they’re timeless, effortless, and always result in dreamy, frame-worthy images.

1. Formal Poses

This is your classic wedding photo. Think: standing side-by-side, forehead to forehead, a soft smile or gentle kiss. It’s the one your parents will frame, the one grandma will tear up over, and the one that looks iconic on your wedding album cover.

📸 Why it works:
It’s clean, elegant, and lets all the emotion shine through without distractions. It’s the perfect mix of posed and personal — especially when we shoot it in golden hour light.

2. The Movement Pose

Now for the fun stuff. Whether you’re walking hand-in-hand through a vineyard, spinning in your dress, or stealing a kiss mid-stride, movement shots bring your wedding gallery to life.

📸 Why it works:
Movement takes away the pressure to “perform” and instead lets your connection do the talking. It’s candid but still intentional — and honestly, the photos usually end up on the mood board of future brides.

Bonus tip:
When you trust your photographer (hi, it’s me 👋), you don’t have to think about poses at all. I guide you through every step — so you can focus on being in love, and I’ll handle making it look iconic.
